Message Given in Church on October 18

In thinking about this year, it occurred to me that not everyone is aware of the stewardship we do and continue to do here at St. David’s; thus, this year’s theme, “Thank You,” and the first letter. The second letter focused on calling our new priest.

There is a Stewardship page on the St. David’s web site. There are two links of interest with a wide variety of information for managing money and one in particular for our youth. This year we can save a tree and postage, and pledge confidentially online. Of course, the traditional paper pledge cards will be made available. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have.

November 1, All Saints Sunday, is the Ingathering. Please bring your pledge cards to church on All Saints and bring them up to the altar to be blessed during the Offertory. If pledging online, please walk forward during the Offertory to be blessed for the pledging. After the service, everyone is invited to the gift of a Stewardship Brunch.

It is a particular practice of the church to be certain, we, the parishioners, care for ourselves, our clergy, and for the management of church concerns. Because the church uses a calendar year budget, it is in the autumn of the year that Stewardship focuses on finances.

Here is our status now:

We have an opportunity this year to provide for calling our new priest. It is imperative we choose our match; someone who is an experienced leader, and who meets our needs.

We prepare to call a priest by listening to each parishioner during the small Listening Posts groups. If you have not been called to attend a Listening Post, you will be. In addition, we prepare by having in place a sound and attractive fiscal situation.

Typically, we are all asked to give as we can, but not this year. This year we are asked to give extravagantly.

Sincerely,

Beck Abraham
