Elijah McCormack, Alto

Eli has been singing in Episcopal choirs for more than 20 years. His choir life has served as a vital foundation for his career as a soloist: most recently, he has sung with the Washington Bach Consort, the Dallas Bach Society, and in the inaugural season of Arkansas Baroque Music. He received his Master’s degree in 2019 in early music voice at Indiana University’s Historical Performance Institute, where he studied with Steven Rickards. He received his undergraduate education at Skidmore College, where he majored in studio art, but continued to participate in choir and music. He studied voice under Sylvia Stoner-Hawkins, and made his role debut as Arsamenes in Handel’s Serse.

Choir and ensemble singing has always been a major part of his life, beginning with 10 years in the treble choir of St. Paul’s Fairfield, Connecticut. He sang for two years with Trinity Episcopal Bloomington in Indiana, and then for two years at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas. When not performing, he enjoys teaching voice, painting dogs, and writing novels.
