Annual Meeting & Elections of St. David's Episcopal Church
The meeting will take place on Sunday, January 28, 2024 following the 10 a.m. Service.
At that time voting will take place for 1 Warden for a two- year term and two vestry members for a the 3-year term. We will also elect 2 delegates to the Diocesan Convention.
Nominations are being accepted up until the time of the election. If you have a nomination speak to the Rector.
Committee Chairs please submit your year-end reports electronically to the office no later than Sunday, January 21st.

St. David's Episcopal Church, through the cooperative efforts of the Syracuse Contract Bridge Club and Assembly Member Pamela Hunter's Office, arrangements have been for the installation of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) in our church building.
We are scheduling two different types of training sessions. We encourage everyone to select a few people in any group utilizing our facilities to attend one of the training opportunities. Class sizes are limited.

The Parishes of St. David’s, St. Alban’s, and Emmanuel Episcopal Churches gather for their Annual Outdoor Worship and Picnic.

Sacred Ground Course BEGINS
Sacred Ground is a course designed by Episcopalians for Episcopalians and others to address the question of white privilege (one of the first books assigned is called Waking Up White).
We are offering Sacred Ground in a VIRTUAL fashion on Zoom. Sessions will be on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. starting September 21st. (Note: Change from previous announcements)

Return to Community: A Sunday Gospel Jazz Service
As the grand finale of Syracuse Jazz Fest in 2023, Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University will host “Return to Community: A Sunday Gospel Jazz Service,” featuring The Dillard University Ensemble (New Orleans, LA), Black Celestial Choral Ensemble (BCCE) of Syracuse University, and a community choir composed of Syracuse area residents.
This first-of-its-kind program will offer a dynamic and inclusive spiritual experience that fuses and celebrates Gospel and Jazz music, includes a pre-event welcome luncheon, and seeks to spark and sustain renewal in our local community and beyond. The program and luncheon are both free of charge, and open to all.

Civic Morning Musicals Presents Brass & Pipes
Featuring Nicholas Abelgore, Resident Organist at St. David’s Episcopal Church
Trombonist and organist Nick Abelgore presents Brass and Pipes, a rich program featuring music of J.S. Bach, Hildegard von Bingen, Nadia Boulanger, Johan de Meij, and more solo jazz piano pieces.
Syracuse-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Nick Abelgore earned his Bachelor’s in Trombone Performance/Jazz Studies (2016) and Master’s in Music Education (2019) from Syracuse University. As a 300-hr Registered Yoga Teacher, he is interested in cultivating well-rounded musicianship and explorative artistry through the integration of movement and meditative practices.
Nick performs throughout Central New York as a soloist, accompanist, and sideman, finding freelance work in classical, jazz, party bands, folk rock, Kirtan, and more. In addition to trombone, Nick is a pianist, pipe organist, commercial/choral singer, and acoustic guitarist.
Tickets are $10. If you are a CMM member, this concert will be discounted as part of your membership package! Click HERE to purchase tickets in advance. (There is a service charge) or you can pay at the door.
CMM (Civic Morning Musicals) exists to support classically trained musicians and their audiences throughout the Central New York region. It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, which produces more than 30 concerts a year and sponsors activities for young musicians.

An East Side Episcopalians Lenten Event.

Lenten Soup and Study #6 CANCELLED
During Lent, we suspend the Tuesday evening Zoom Bible Study and gather at Church for a simple soup supper and book study. Soup is served at 6:00 pm, and the study portion of the evening begins at 6:30. The cost of the soup supper is $5.
The Lenten Soup and Study program began on Tuesday, February 28th. The book is available from Amazon (link below) or any other bookseller.
This year, we’ll be reading the book American Harvest: God, Country, and Farming in the Heartland, by Marie Mutsuki Mockett.
