Ascension the 40th day

The direction of the design for the leaded glass panel in the Sanctuary focuses on the Ascension of Christ.

It’s depiction is subtle so as to emphasize the expansion of light reaching out in all directions. The design features large areas of clear textured glass which represents life and the universe illuminated by beveled glass which are the rays of light emanating from the risen Christ.

The focal elements of the design are the beveled sections of glass. This type of glass when struck with the proper angle of light from the sun will cast prismatic images throughout the space. Within a clear prism a transformation takes place and all basic colors become represented. This far-reaching light represents what is given to us by Christ to help us reach what God would have us know and be.

The use of small segments of color helps to unite the leaded glass panel with the beautiful tapestry located within the altar area. The color segments also represent that which is human in us made more beautiful by the light.
