  • Flower Guild

The mission of the flower guild of St. David’s Church is to glorify God through nature as a part of both regular and special worship services. The guild is responsible, as well, for plants throughout the church and on the grounds, including the church’s memorial garden.

  • Altar Guild

Rotating teams of faithful workers prepare the sanctuary for all services, maintain paraments, gowns, and all supplies used in worship.

  • Sunday Coffee Hour

Following the late service each Sunday, worshippers of all ages gather in the Parish Hall (or in the courtyard in warmer weather) for a time of food, beverage and fellowship.

  • First Friday Dinners

A hallmark of St. David’s fellowship activities has been its Friday Night Suppers, held in a nicely decorated parish hall by candlelight. The meals are prepared by a long-standing team of church members. Donations at mealtimes support the program and other kitchen needs.

  • East Side Episcopalians

Several times each year we join together with the East Side Episcopalians. During Advent for a Service of Lessons & Carols, During Lent for a Maundy Thursday Service, and each fall we move Sunday worship to an area park, where, following worship, a picnic is held along with fun activities.

Our Open doors…

As another form of outreach, St. David’s encourages the use of its building by community groups. Regular meetings are held by men’s and women’s Alcoholics Anonymous groups, other 12 step groups, Overeaters Anonymous, Yoga classes, Diocesan groups, addiction counselors, the Syracuse Pop’s Chorus, Crime Victim Survivors, and organizations for remembrance services and benefits.

Beyond these many relationships, individual members of St. David’s are involved significantly in many social and cultural causes in the wider community.

  • St. David's Court

First and foremost, we support Saint David’s Court, a Christopher Community of 20 or so residents with disabilities who live independently in neighboring East Syracuse. Our parish helped to create this residence some 20 years ago, and interact by visits, games events, singing, sharing food, worship, and one-on-one encounters. It is especially gratifying to see our young people almost transformed before our eyes as they engage these wonderful friends.

  • Samaritan Center

Saint David’s Church also ministers locally through the Samaritan Center “soup kitchen” in downtown Syracuse; tutoring, mentoring, and supporting a food bank at Springfield Gardens low-income housing in DeWitt; tutoring and mentoring at PEACE, Inc. on Syracuse’s Near West Side. In addition, parish members provide gifts for needy children at Christmas time.

St. David’s coordinates American Red Cross Blood Drives several times a year.
